MONDAINE expands its Doppio collection with the “Doppio Bauhaus Inspired” – a new series that explores the relationship between colour, geometry, and time from a modernist design perspective. Available in 33 mm and 41 mm sizes, the collection reflects a general trend towards expressive minimalism, where clarity is no longer neutral but colourful.
As a contemporary addition to the MONDAINE watch portfolio, Doppio was conceived to embody balance: tradition and modernity, structure and emotion, minimalism and depth. With the Bauhaus-inspired editions, this dialogue becomes more graphic and colourful, guided by the principles of modernist design.
The dial is inspired by the colour theory of the Bauhaus and designed as a circular composition, in which the indices reflect the interplay of the primary colours through subtle colour nuances.
For the first time, the dial features the "Doppio" marker, a subtle trademark that underscores the collection's identity. The iconic red seconds hand adds a precise visual accent, bringing rhythm and movement to the layout and, like every detail of this design, serving a very specific purpose.
Double lines. Spatial depth.
The Doppio collection is characterized by its striking double-line design. The hour and minute hands consist of two parallel lines – a feature that continues consistently to the numerals on the dial, creating a clear, distinctive visual identity while ensuring legibility.
The concave dial lends depth and emphasizes its three-dimensional character. Combined with the double-domed sapphire crystal and the refined dial finish, it ensures clarity while simultaneously reinforcing the structured, architectural design of the new Doppio Bauhaus Inspired.
Geometry on the front and back:
In true Bauhaus style, geometry becomes a central design element. The trio of circle, square, and triangle is not only found on the case back but is also integrated into the dial, thus emphasizing the design language of these basic forms.
These symbols, whose colours reflect the dial's hues, unite the front and back into a cohesive design language. They represent the essential building blocks of form: clarity through geometry, balance through proportions. Their arrangement reflects MONDAINE's credo of meaningful design rather than mere ornamentation.
“With the Doppio Bauhaus Inspired, we wanted to explore how colour can remain disciplined while simultaneously adding emotional depth to a functional design ,” said André Bernheim, CSO and member of the management board.
The organically rounded case provides a gentle contrast to these graphic elements, ensuring comfortable wear while maintaining architectural strength. Available in two sizes – 33 mm and 41 mm – the collection adapts to different individual styles, wrist sizes, and wearing preferences without compromising the collection's visual identity.
